Easter Craft #2: Wood Canvas Art

Next up for Easter Crafts is a Wood Canvas Art. I’m not too fond of the name but my husband and I have been having a hard time trying to describe this craft. Regardless of our naming issues, it’s still super easy to make and such a cute craft when finished.

Wood Canvas Art

  1. Canvas (3 of them 5×7) – depending on the size of your shapes you may want to choose larger canvas
  2. Easter Wood Shapes – I chose Easter Eggs but a bunny would have been great too
  3. Paint (at least 3 different colours)
  4. Paint Brushes and a Foam Brush
  5. Ribbon – You really only need 1 but I chose to use 2
  6. Glue Gun and Glue Sticks

Wood Canvas Art Instructions:

  1. Using the Foam Brush paint the canvas a colour of your choosing. I chose to paint all 3 yellow.IMG_20160311_080927
  2. While the canvas dries, paint your wood Easter shapes different colour. I chose to paint them blue, aqua and white. Wait for them to dry and apply another coat.IMG_20160311_081402
  3. Once they are dry you can add some fun designs with the paint. On 2 of the canvas I chose polka dots and left the last one yellow. With my egg shapes, one has polka dots, one has stripes and the other has chevron.IMG_20160311_084415
  4. Once dry use your glue gun and apply glue to the back of your painted wood shapes. Stick them to the middle of your painted canvas. Press firmly and wait a few seconds until the glue has a chance to dry. Repeat for all 3 shapes and canvas.IMG_20160311_084802
  5. Align the canvas how you would like them to hang and flip over. Using your glue gun apply glue to the bottom of the top canvas and to the top of the middle canvas. Apply your ribbon and hold down until glue has a chance to dry. Repeat to attach the middle canvas to the bottom canvas.IMG_20160311_093340IMG_20160311_093536
  6. Using the other ribbon (or the same if you went with one ribbon only), glue the ribbon to the top of the first canvas. Press and hold until dry.IMG_20160311_093743
  7. Hang your art and admire!IMG_20160311_094137
