5 Months Old

I can’t believe my baby is already 5 months old. The time really has gone by fast. It feels like only yesterday we were bringing him home from the hospital.

5 months old

James at 5 months:

  1. Rolls over from his back to his tummy, only on his right side. And a few times he’s gone from tummy to back but it’s usually the momentum from the back to tummy that keeps him going back to his back again.
  2. He reaches and grabs for his toys. He loves his toy Giraffe and reaches for it whenever it’s in front of his face.
  3. He loves being scared. It’s a complete fluke that we know this. We were playing peek-a-boo and I must have waited too long because when I moved my hand and said boo he got scared. Then let out the cutest and loudest laugh. We do it all the time now and unless he’s tired he laughs every time.
  4. He sleeps through the night. Usually for a solid 10 hours. I am so grateful and know that we are lucky. I better not have jinxed his night time sleeping patterns.
  5. He weighs about 16 lbs. Feels like 100 lbs when he wants you to hold him for hours on end. But seeing as he’s only going to be this small for so long I’m trying to enjoy the no feeling in my arms. Hahaha
  6. He reaches for Crosby (our fur baby). This I love the most. There are only a few instances where they are both interested in each other at the same time.  And it’s adorable. I can’t wait to see them play together when James is a little bit older.
  7. He’s not the biggest fan of books, not yet anyway. I try to read to him everyday but mostly he gets bored and whines to do something else.
  8. He loves car rides. He does fall asleep if we’ve been driving for more than 30 mins but he mostly smiles and stares out the window like he loves the world around him.
  9. He has pushed up on his knees a few times when he’s on his belly. Makes me nervous that he’s going to start crawling this instant and I’ll be late to the baby proofing show.
  10. He can sit up unassisted. Not for very long maybe a minute or so before he topples over and starts giggling.

On a knitting note, my mom is here for 10 days (woohoo!) so I should be able to get in some quality knitting time while she gets her baby fix.

Happy Knitting,
