Vogue Knitting

When I was in high school I thought that knitters were grandmothers making things for their grand children or a hobby for old people. Oh how naive! Even when I got back into knitting in university, I never broadcast the fact that I was making scarves. I would only knit at home, even though my brother’s would say that I look like MΓ©mΓ©re (my grandmother). I don’t know why I felt this embarrassment, after all I had created something beautiful and unique. But soon enough that would all change.

The first knitting magazine I ever received was Holiday 2010 issue of Vogue Knitting. It was given to me by a friend as a Christmas gift several years ago. And what an awesome gift. It opened my eyes to a whole knitting community. A community that much to my surprised was filled with woman AND men of all ages. I started to notice more and more about knitting happening all around. On the web, there are forumns, blogs, websites all with knitting as its main focus. In town there are LYS (local yarn shops) and weekly knit nights. And from this my obsession with knitting grew.

Magazines and the internet were my main research tools but a few weeks ago I came across this book at a local store; The Vogue Knitting Stitchionary. There are 6 volumes I believe, but the one I was most interested in the Volume 2: Cables. As you all know, I love cables and this book has over 150 different cable patterns. The patterns range from uber simple to crazily intricate cable patterns. For anyone trying to learn cables or anyone wanting to learn different cable patterns, I would highly recommend this book.

Vogue Knitting Stitchionary: Volume 2 Cables

Ideally I would like all of these books, as long as they are as helpful as the Cable Volume. But Vogue Knitting does hold a special place in my heart only because it showed me all that there is in the world of knitting.
