Smaller Projects

I find that when I am working on large projects, I often get anxious because they take a while to complete. So I end up taking breaks and completing other smaller projects. This is the case with the Cabled Baby Blanket I’m creating. It’s taking much longer than expected, and in the meantime I have completed numerous smaller projects. The first few projects were the basic mittens, the leg warmers & boot cuffs, and the Zombieland Slouchie Hat. I have also worked on these projects.

Finger-less Mittens
Finger-less Mittens

I worked these finger-less mittens shortly after the mittens, hence the same yarn. There is something about this specific mitt that I don’t like. Maybe it’s the yarn, maybe I made the top ribbing to large, maybe it`s the messiness of where the thumb is joined to the mitt. Whatever it is, I don’t like it. Which gets me excited to create ones that I do like. Now that I have a basic idea of the shape and size needed for mittens and I am looking forward to creating my own design/pattern for these finger-less mittens and using much better yarn:)

Baby Booties
Baby Booties

These baby booties were quick to make. A few hours and the pair was completed. They’re cute, but I don’t think I sewed up the seam properly. And my cast off edge was very tight. I don’t have a baby at home, but I do have a dog and watching him wear these on his front paws was great. He hates any kind of doggie clothes/costumes/boots so he basically took a few steps then froze and wouldn’t move until they were removed. We have a friend whose dog loves to wear outfit, so it gave me an idea that I can create doggie booties. Something similar to these with less toe space and slightly taller.

Braided Cable Scarf
Braided Cable Scarf

The Braided Cable Scarf is the scarf I will be sending to my International Scarf Swap partner. It’s the group I joined on Ravelry. A few days ago I posted the basic braided cable pattern. I made it slightly larger and incorporated it into the scarf. I`m using Bernat Premium yarn and it is uber soft and lovely to work with. Lovely is really the only word I can use to describe it. It is warm and soft and glides effortlessly on my needles. I will definitely use this yarn again.

So this is what I have been up to. What have you been knitting lately?

Happy Knitting,

Ashley
