Long Weekend!

Happy Victoria Day (on the 20th) to all my fellow Canadians!

If you’re not out spending time at the cottage or camping, I hope your spending it outside. The weather is a little bit chilly in the morning and at night but during the day it’s still beautiful out. My husband and I are saving our vacation time for a week long cottage trip in July, so we couldn’t make a the trip this weekend (it’s an 8 hour drive to the wooded jungle of Northern Ontario). In all honesty it’s not our cottage, it’s my parents cottage but I think my brothers and I see it as ‘our cottage’. So, we decided to have a BBQ tomorrow with everyone who was staying in town. I have been busy getting our backyard presentable and by presentable I mean as pretty as I can possibly make it.

Flower, Planters, Knitting
Flowers in my planter’s. I’ve been told they are petunia’s but I can’t really be sure.

Flower I bought from Walmart, I have no idea what kind they are. My neighbor says the flowers are Petunia’s but she can say any name and I wouldn’t know. I know the green ones are ferns, and I have been told that come September I can bring them inside and they will survive through the winter. I don’t exactly have the greenest thumb, so I hope I don’t kill them before tomorrow.

Bird Houses, Knitting, Wedding Favour
Bird Houses we used as our Wedding Favours.

These cute little birdhouses were our favours for our Wedding last July. I have plenty of extra’s ( I shouldn’t have ordered so many) and there are only so many birdhouses that our parents and siblings need. They didn’t come as a set of 3, they came as a single birdhouse. I simply stapled the rope of one to bottom of another twice to give me the set of 3.

Weed, Flower, Knitting
Pretty weed from our backyard. There’s plenty in the field next to our house.

This is not a flower that I bought but rather a really pretty weed that is growing in our yard. Again, I have no idea what it is, but they are all over the field next to our house. I almost don’t want to get rid of it. I want to soak up all of its yellow, that’s so bright and full of sunshine then on those gloomy days release it. It’ll be sunny all summer long.

Daisy, Flower, Knitting
One more pretty flower for you viewing pleasure πŸ™‚

So all this means is that I haven’t gotten around to my knitting in the last few days, my backyard has taken over my thoughts. I have some more herbs and a few more potted Petunia’s (I think) to set up, a thorough clean of the deck, patio furniture, and my husbands favourite the BBQ and we are all ready for tomorrow. Which means I will get back to my knitting on Monday (or maybe even tonight :))

What are your plans for the long weekend?

Happy Knitting (or camping, or BBQing, or relaxing)
